My ISP requires authentication, but ACT! doesn’t support it.
Both Outlook and Outlook Express support authentication. If you make either of them your primary e-mail system you shouldn't have a problem.

Why can’t I choose which e-mail account to send from?
Unfortunately, Outlook 2000 and the ACT! email client have the same limitation. You can set up multiple email accounts, but you can only send from the default account. One way to use multiple email accounts with ACT! 6 is by upgrading to Outlook 2002 (XP), which enables you to select the account from which to send.

Can I include graphics in my ACT! e-mail?
Yes, just make sure you set your message format to HTML. You can do it on a message by message basis (choose Format | HTML from the menu bar in a New Message form) or you can set the ACT! default message format to HTML (choose Edit | Preferences from the ACT! menu bar, select the E-mail tab, click the Composing Options button, and choose HTML from the 'Send messages in' drop down list.

Outgoing E-mail Gets Stuck in the Outbox

If you’re using Outlook as your e-mail client all messages sent from ACT! 6 are automatically stored in the Outlook Outbox. You must open Outlook and click Send/Receive to send the messages.

Configuring Outlook 2000 for ACT! 6 Integration
If you’re running Outlook 2000, it must be configured as Corporate or Workgroup, not as Internet Mail Only. You can determine your Outlook setting by choosing Help | About Microsoft Outlook from the menu bar. If you’re running in the Internet Mail Only mode, open the Options dialog box (Tools | Options), click the Mail Services tab, and click the Reconfigure Mail Support button to change to Corporate or Workgroup. Make sure you have your Office CD handy.

Outlook Express Security Override
If you’re using Outlook Express 6, each time you attempt to send an e-mail message you may get an error message indicating that another program is trying to send a message on your behalf. Click Send to override this security feature of Outlook Express 6. If you click Do Not Send, the message is deleted. The error message may not be visible, so if you find the ACT! e-mail client is no longer responding, press Alt+Tab to see if an error message is lurking somewhere in the background. To disable this feature, open Outlook Express and choose Tools | Options, then click the Security tab. Deselect the Warn me when other applications try to send mail as me option.

Can I use Internet Explorer instead of the ACT! browser?
If you disable ACT! Internet Services, clicking a contact's Web Site URL or selecting a link from the Online menu will launch your system's default browser. Choose Edit | Preferences, then deselect the Enable ACT! Internet Services option on the General tab.

Why does my daily calendar always display a start time of 2:30 a.m.?
It’s a result of your screen resolution settings. The higher your resolution, the more time slots that appear. Since ACT! will not let you scroll beyond 12am, 2:30am is the first time slot that appears. You can either lower your screen resolution or decrease the Daily Calendar increments. If you decrease the increments, the change will not take effect until you close and reopen the daily calendar.

Viewing JPEG Files in the Library Tab
Photo Editor, which is the only application you can use to view JPEG files, is part of Microsoft Office. It is one of the Microsoft Office Tools, and can be installed by modifying your Microsoft Office installation. Use the Add/Remove Programs applet in the Windows Control Panel (Start | Settings | Control Panel, then double-click the Add/Remove Programs applet).

Snooze All Alarms
If multiple alarms pop up at the same time and you want to snooze them all, there’s a neat trick that will save you a couple of mouse clicks. Just close the Alarms dialog box by clicking the Close button (X) in the upper right corner. Instead of closing the box it highlights all the alarms and displays the Snooze Alarm dialog box.

Printing Problems
One of the most common causes of printing problems is an out of date printer driver. So, for the best printing results visit your printer manufacturer’s web site and check for driver updates. You’ll generally find them in a “support” or “download” area. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for installing the updated drivers

Faxing in ACT! 6
Although ACT! supports only Microsoft Fax (in Windows 98) and WinFax directly, you can use any fax software you choose (as long as it’s installed) by using the ACT! Print feature and selecting your fax software as the printer.
